Solution Focused Hypnotherapy is successful for fears and phobias, with a phobia being an extreme fear, or excessive reaction to an object or situation. It is not the same as being scared of something. A phobic reaction involves a physical and emotional response, with the extreme fear never being far away from that person’s mind. It is likely that if you have a phobia, it would dictate what situations you put yourself in, on a daily basis. It results is avoidance and anxious behaviours that are very difficult to control.
Symptoms of being faced with a phobia may include:
- Dizziness, even fainting
- Nausea and vomiting
- Panic
- Crying and screaming
- An overwhelming need to run away
- Increased heart rate or palpitations
- Shaking
When working with fears and phobias, we have to make sure that the phobia you are suffering with, is specific. This means that it is an isolated fear and that it is not stress that is driving it. Some fears, emetophobia being one example, have generalised anxiety at the root, are more complex and require more treatment.
We work this out on the Initial Consultation.
If your phobia is specific, I can work with you over 4 sessions where we use a highly effective method for updating the part of the brain that holds the phobic response. We do not use any sort of exposure techniques. We work on reducing stress and a giving you a solid understanding of the neuroscience of how fears and phobias become established. This allows to people to cope better than they ever thought possible.
