Is Hypnosis Safe?

Yes. Hypnosis or trance is a naturally occurring state. In Solution Focused Hypnotherapy we focus on relaxation, positive visualisations and positive suggestions to help calm the part of the brain where the negative emotions come from. Over time, you will start to feel more like yourself again. You will feel more resilient and will handle worries and challenges without overwhelm.

What Age Groups do you work with?

I work with ages 10 and up. I was a speech and language therapist and have experience of working with children and teenagers. There are an increasing number of young people being referred for Hypnotherapy and I am seeing very positive results in working with young people.

Is my problem too complex for Hypnotherapy?

Hypnosis elicits relaxation which dramatically reduces stress levels. Stress in the body exacerbates all mental and physical issues. When we resolve stress in the mind and body, so many things can change for the better. We use scaling in each therapy session where we look at how you are feeling on a scale of 0-10. I have worked with people who have scaled as low as a 0, 1 or 2 when they first come along, and after 2 or 3 months are scaling 8, 9 and sometimes even 10!

How Long Do The Effects Last?

Once you have had the right number of session, the effects of Solution Focused Therapy are long term.  You will not necessarily have to come back again. Of course if you want to come back in the future, for relaxation sessions and to keep you ‘on track’ you are more than welcome to. It is unlikely that you will need to however, as the neural re-wiring has already been done.

Is everyone able to be Hypnotised?

Yes. Hypnosis is a naturally occurring state. Everyone is able to go into hypnosis. Even a light level of trance has a therapeutic benefit. The effects build upon themselves with repetition. You will find that the more you get used to the feeling of relaxation, the easier it will become. As you progress through your Hypnotherapy sessions you will be able to fully relax you body and therefore fully relax your mind.  If you are determined that Hypnosis will not work for you however, then it probably wont.

I want to book Hypnotherapy for someone in my family – will this work?

If your family member is a child (aged 10+) or teenager, please give me a call and we can discuss how your young person feels about having Hypnotherapy. After I have explained everything to you both in our initial consultation, they can decide if it is something they would like to go ahead with. If you are thinking of booking on behalf of another adult, it is really important that they actually do want to come. It is vital that they also see how valuable Hypnotherapy really is. If someone is attending Hypnotherapy because they feel obliged, their success  may be questionable. Solution Focused Hypnotherapy is something that you have got to want to do. It is much more helpful if you are open to the process, and really give it your full effort.
